How the Metachronological Order Works

"The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya"

  1. Haruhi is inspired to form the SOS Brigade in the beginning of May.

  2. Part 2 takes place over the course of three school days as Haruhi acquires resources for the club.

  3. In Part 3, Haruhi announces that the SOS Brigade's first city-wide search will commence on the upcoming Sunday. Kyon receives a note from Ryoko Asakura on the Monday after.

  4. Part 4 takes place on the day after Kyon's talk with Ryoko Asakura.

"The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya"

The SOS Brigade club members compete in a baseball tournament which is held on a Sunday in June.

"Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody"

This episode is set on Tanabata, which is celebrated on in Japan.

"Mystérique Sign"

This episode begins on the day after the first trimester final exams.

"Remote Island Syndrome"

The SOS Brigade takes an overnight trip at the start of summer vacation.

"Endless Eight"

In the "Endless Eight" arc, we see the rest of the SOS Brigade's summer vacation.

The most immersive watching experience goes:

Cultural Festival

  1. In "The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya", the club members film an SOS Brigade original movie to screen at the school's cultural festival. They work hard to complete the movie on time, filming all day Saturday and Sunday.

  2. "Live Alive" and "The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00" both take place on the day of the festival. We get to watch two episodes today!

  3. "Day of Sagittarius" begins a few days after the festival.

"Someday in the Rain"

This anime-original episode is set sometime around the beginning of winter.
